Dr. Atia Abdalla Atia,
MBBS

As OGH Sudan Country Director, Atia draws on his significant professional experience occupying leadership and clinician roles with DNDi, World Health Organisation, and Médecins Sans Frontières, to bring impactful change to health system structures and practical solutions in healthcare delivery. Specialising in Visceral Leishmaniasis and Neglected Tropical Disease, Atia’s work with the Ministry of Health Department for Communicable Diseases includes improving diagnostics, referral, and treatment practices of the ministry to align to current WHO guidance.

 

He has established innovative approaches to health service access and quality, including satellite clinics and Mobile Mentor Teams for clinician training across Sudan. With programmatic success in the closed areas of Sudan, controlled by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North, Atia brings an advanced knowledge of success drivers when working in fragile and conflict areas.
